Daytona Beach has been a mecca for lovers of Beach Culture for over 100 years but especially in the last half of the 20th century. Daytona's Highway A1A was full of old style beachside "motels" where the exciting thing was pulling your car right up to your room. This was also the hay day of the many beachside bars that dotted the coast of The World's Most Famous Beach.
In the 1960's, Daytona Beach had an influx of those kitschy Polynesion themed hotels like the Hawaiian Inn and the Aku Tiki Hotel. The place to see and be seen was at Julian's In Ormond Beach with its tropical...almost "Rat Pack Retro" Polynesion Restaraunt theme. This was the time that Tiki Bars were Introduced to Daytona. Now almost every mile of Daytona Beach has a Tiki Bar. New and old, ratty or retro we are on an ongoing search for all these tiny watering holes dotting the coast of Daytona.
